BEYOND VISION INC

Milwaukee, WI – For over 100 years Beyond Vision has been offering job skills training to people in the community that are blind or visually impaired. To do this they have implemented their Workforce Development Program. Its mission is to identify and eliminate barriers for people who are blind or visually impaired face when seeking employment. Some of the skills provided are computer literacy workshops, manufacturing services such as assembly/packaging. and leadership development.

BROADSCOPE DISABILITY SERVICES

Milwaukee, WI- For over 50 years this organization’s focus has been to serve people with a variety of disabilities and their families by promoting inclusion and empowering freedom of choice. In addition to providing employment services and independent living support, Broadscope also has a Socialization Program that encourages clients to practice social interpersonal skills, personal safety, and making new friends through community-based activities. This empowers freedom of choice across a lifespan.

CENTER FOR VETERANS ISSUES

Milwaukee, WI – Since 1990 the Center for Veterans Issues has been the largest community-based veterans’ service organization that serves vets in SE. Milwaukee. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for all veterans, their families, and the communities in which they live. They do this by offering a broad spectrum of resources, programs, and services that include housing, training/employment, education, case management, and community collaboration.

HEBRON HOUSING SERVICES

Pewaukee, WI – Establishing themselves as a homeless prevention group in 1982, Hebron Housing Services is the oldest non-profit organization in Waukesha. It is fully dedicated to providing emergency short-term shelter, and long-term housing solutions to individuals and families. In addition to advancing immediate housing arrangements, they also offer access to food and individual case management. Their mission is restoring hope and dignity to those in need.

JUST ONE MORE MINISTRY

Glendale, WI- This ministry got started in 2010 after its founder recognized that there was a problem with food insecurity and food waste in the Milwaukee community. To help reduce this dilemma the ministry created a food recovery program that would later be known as Just One More Ministry.

To get food to those in need quickly the ministry implemented a Mobile Meals outreach program that rescues leftover food from various grocery stores, restaurants, and festivals. They provide over 10.000 meals a week.

MKE URBAN STABLES

Milwaukee, WI- What makes these stables unique is it holds the distinction of being the first facility in the nation to merge community engagement programs and equine-assisted therapy.

Participants work with mental health professionals and equine specialists to develop relationships with horses. Participants develop critical life skills such as trust, honesty, respect, and communication because horses are in-tune with humans via non-verbal.
