BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF KENOSHA INC
Kenosha, WI – The Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha is a youth guidance organization dedicated to promoting health, social, educational, vocational, cultural, character and leadership development. In addition to providing programs in sports and fi tness, the club also offers programs in career development, and health and life skills. They help youth improve their lives by building skills, value, and self-esteem in order to prevent potential gang involvement and alcohol and other drug abuse.
LITERACY SERVICES OF WISCONSIN INC
Milwaukee, WI – The Literacy Services of Wisconsin was established in 1965 with the purpose of providing communitybased adult education skills and training. In addition to providing one-on-one tutoring in reading, writing, and math, they also offer citizenship classes, high school education courses, and workforce partnerships. These programs are offered in a variety of formats: small group instruction, workshops, online learning, and classroom instruction.
MACCANON BROWN HOMELESS SANCTUARY INC
Milwaukee, WI – Founded in 2014, the mission of the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary is to provide a multiresource center for homeless and at-risk persons with core values of community, spirituality, recovery, peer empowerment, healing, solidarity, and mutual transformation. Their Doorway Ministry distributes free nutritious food, hygiene products, blankets, coats, and household essentials. Their Welcome Center offers showers, bag lunches, and personal consultations.
MILWAUKEE CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Milwaukee, WI – Founded in 2011, this organization has a mission to provide advocacy and support for families who have experienced domestic violence, child maltreatment, poverty, and other forms of trauma. They do this by providing evidencebased educational and therapeutic healing services which include Housing First projects, Prevention Advocacy, Youth Empowerment and Support, Bounce Back Camps, Parenting Program, and a Healing Book Club.
MILWAUKEE INDIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Milwaukee, WI – The Milwaukee Indian Education Committee was founded in the late 1970s. The purpose of the committee is to promote, advocate, and support educational issues and initiatives for the American Indian community in the Metro- Milwaukee area. One of their initiatives is in providing learning opportunities for students to help them begin a successful college journey. The committee hosts community programs such as the All-City Indian Graduation annual event.
KENOSHA ACHIEVEMENT CENTER INC
Kenosha, WI – After forming 60 years ago, the Kenosha Achievement Center has a mission to create opportunities for the personal growth and success of persons with special needs. When they fi rst started the center it had four participants; today over 2,000 individuals have utilized their programs. In addition to providing children services, they also have adult services and specialized transportation services. Community partnerships provide work opportunities.
