In honor of November as American Indian Heritage Month, the Potawatomi Traveling Times (PTT) invited Native American youth grades K-12 to share with us how their heritage has influenced his/her art. A total of 26 projects were submitted that ranged in a wide variety of mediums: metal, pencil, acrylic paints, beadwork, wood and pottery.

Each of these beautifully crafted pieces are part of a heritage display at the FCP Executive Building lobby located at 5416 Everybody’s Rd., Crandon, Wis., from Dec. 7, 2015 – Jan. 6, 2016. Normal business hours are Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please call ahead for holiday office closures at (715) 478- 7437.

A reception with refreshments to honor participants will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at 5 p.m., at the FCP Executive Building auditorium. PTT encourages participants, students, family members and the general public to join us as we celebrate talent, creativity and culture.

PTT would like to thank all the students for participating and creating pieces that give meaning to their heritage and their artwork. It is PTT’s hope that we can continue to encourage community youth by offering them a another avenue of creative self-expression.

A special thank you to all who helped in getting the word out to the youth: FCP Education, FCP Administration, and to the school districts of Crandon, Wabeno and Laona, to the parents of the students, area classroom teachers, area school support staff, and to family members for encouragement. See artwork on pgs. 6, 7 and 12.
